Former cricketer Debashish Mohanty filed a written police complaint alleging that few anti-social elements have been uploading obscene and offensive materials about him on the Internet using the photographs of him and his wife.
The former fast-bowler made the complaint in the cyber cell of Cuttack Police Headquarter.
“These vulgar things are appearing on the Internet for over two years now. In 2015, I had brought this to the notice of the state crime branch police and after that had ignored them completely hoping that good sense would prevail upon the uploader and they would be deleted from Internet,”
He said that after waiting for two years, things have not changed and he had no option but to make a formal complaint with the cyber cell. When police asked him that if he has doubts about someone or has any idea about who might be behind this, Mohanty remained clueless.
A crime branch officer confirmed that they have received the complaint and said:
“The complaint cell will go through the nature of the complaint and submit it before the authority with suggestions if a case is to be registered in this connection and whether to initiate criminal proceedings or not.”
Debashish once was a crucial member of the Indian Cricket Team. He played 2 Test Matches and 45 One Day Internationals during his time with Team India.
